KOOL DJ SUPAMIKE
While most DJs claim to be the hottest,
Kool DJ SupaMike happens to be the
koolest DJ to blaze the turntables. A St. Louis native,
SupaMike started mixing for local parties while in Junior High and hasn’t stop spinning since. Hooking up with a group of DJs from the local hip hop station, 100.3 The Beat,
SupaMike was able to hone his skills on the ones and twos. After moving to Baton Rouge to attend Southern University, he continued to make a name for himself as DJ. In 2001 he caught the eye of Baton Rouge’s hip hop station Max 94.1 when he won a spot on the “Dream Team,” joining the city’s top DJs.
Kool DJ SupaMike soon moved from deejaying local college parties to hitting the airwaves with Drack Muse on the weekly “Beats ‘n Rhymes Hip Hop Show.” It wasn’t long before Supa Mike took over as the permanent host of “Beats ‘n Rhymes,” eventually moving on to more timeslots at the station.
SupaMike can now be heard in The Crib, his highest-rated weekly radio show, Monday through Friday on Max 94.1 FM from 2 to 6 pm. The Crib is number one in the Baton Rouge metro area for his demographic. He also serves as the station’s Music Director to which he was nominated for the Music Director of the Year by R&R Magazine for two consecutive years.
Kool DJ SupaMike has made two national appearances on BET’s Rap City in the Basement as well as served as the official deejay for the MTV2 2 Dollar Bill Tour featuring Tweet and Jurassic 5. Recognized for his talents, he has won the Mix Show Power Summit “DJ Threat Award” for being a top up and coming DJ in 1995. He went on to also be nominated at the Mix Show Power Summit for “Dirty South DJ of the Year” for three consecutive years.
SupaMike was most recently recognized as the Most Influential DJ in Baton Rouge by Source Magazine.
As he’s grown to become one of the area most popular voices in radio, he is also one of the most sought after DJs across the nation. Known to rock any party, his reputation as a “turntable assassin” precedes him.
